Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs entered, by the method stated below it. Jobcardo publishes no tax rate, no wage figure and no trade standard: the rate, the markup and the tax on the parts line are yours, and the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own figures.
Sales order management software is what a small seller reaches for when the orders it confirms stop fitting in an inbox: a customer has agreed the goods, the quantity, the price and the terms, and someone has to raise the sales order, take the deposit, ship the goods and invoice the balance without the figures drifting between four documents. What the software has to do is confirm the order from the seller's own figures, keep it against the customer with a status, and hand the same total to the invoice. The sales order worksheet on this site does the first part free, with the discount, the tax, the shipping, the deposit and the balance worked on the page; Jobcardo Pro keeps it.

Confirm it: the lines, the discount and the tax on the page
A sales order is the customer's agreement written down by the seller: units, unit price, any discount, tax on the goods and the delivery charge. The worksheet works all of it into one total, and the deposit due on confirmation is split out before anyone asks for it.
Keep it: the order against the customer, with a status
Confirmed, in progress, shipped, invoiced and paid, closed. Each sales order sits against its customer with a date on every change, so the office knows what has shipped and the customer's call about the balance is answered from the record.
Invoice it: the same figures, no re-typing
The sales order's net, tax, shipping and deposit are the invoice's figures. Jobcardo keeps the order and exports its lines; your invoicing tool or your bookkeeper raises the bill, and the balance it asks for is the balance the order already shows.
Sales order management software: common questions
What is the difference between a sales order and an invoice?
The sales order is raised before the goods ship and confirms what the customer agreed to buy and at what price; the invoice is raised after and asks for the money. The figures should agree, and the point of sales order software is that they do, because the invoice reads from the order rather than being typed again.
Does the worksheet handle a deposit?
Yes. Enter the deposit as a percentage of the total and the worksheet splits the total into the amount due on confirmation and the balance due on the invoice, so both figures are on the sheet the customer sees and neither has to be worked out later.
Does Jobcardo connect to my accounting package?
Not today. Jobcardo keeps the sales order with its status and history and exports customers and orders whenever you ask, which is how the figures reach the books. An accounting connection is on the list; if it is the thing you need, tell us through the enquiry form and we will say when.
