Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs entered, by the method stated below it. Jobcardo publishes no tax rate, no wage figure and no trade standard: the rate, the markup and the tax on the parts line are yours, and the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own figures.

Order management, for a small business, is knowing where every order stands: which have been raised, which are in progress, which are done and waiting to be invoiced, and which were paid and closed. The enterprise version of the term means channels, warehouses and carriers; the small-business version means one list, with a status and a date on every row, that the office and the technician both read. What order management has to do is hold every work order, sales order and service order against its customer, move each through its statuses with the change dated, and give the total back when someone asks. Jobcardo Pro is that list; the free worksheets price what goes on it.

Every order on one list, with its status

Work orders, sales orders and service orders sit on one list against their customers, each with a status from raised to closed and a date on every change. The list is the whole of order management for a shop of fifteen people; the modules a suite adds on top are for a different buyer.

The status moves, and the history keeps it

An order moves from raised to in progress to done to invoiced and paid to closed. Each move is dated and kept, so the question of when the job was finished, or when the deposit was taken, is answered from the record rather than from whoever remembers.

The money is on the order, not in a separate spreadsheet

Each order carries its own priced worksheet: the labour, the parts, the tax, the deposit and the balance. Order management that keeps the status but not the price is half a system, and the half you need when the customer disputes the bill is the price.

Order management: common questions

What is order management?

Tracking every order a business raises or receives from the moment it exists to the moment it is paid and closed: what it is, who it is for, who has it, what it costs and where it stands. For a small service business that is one list with a status and a history on every order; for a retailer it means channels and warehouses, which is a different product.

Is Jobcardo an order management system?

For a small service business or a small B2B seller, yes: every work order, sales order and service order against its customer with a status, a history and a team. It is not an OMS in the retail sense; it does not route orders to warehouses, print carrier labels or sync a marketplace. The retail and supply chain end of the category is served elsewhere.

Can I try order management before paying?

The worksheets are free and need no account: price the work order, confirm the sales order, cost the service call. Keeping any of them as a record with a status is Jobcardo Pro, $25 a month for the whole team, cancelled from your account page whenever you like.
