How to estimate a roofing job: measure the roof before you write anything
Length by width per plane, the pitch multiplier for the slope, and then the count of ridges, hips, valleys, eaves and penetrations. Write the measurements on the estimate itself. An estimate whose quantities cannot be checked is an argument waiting to happen when the crew orders material.
Price the lines that are usually forgotten
Tear-off by layer, dumpster and haul, flashing at chimneys, walls and skylights, boot replacement, deck repair at an hourly rate with a stated allowance, and the permit. These are the lines that turn a quoted job into a break-even job when they are handled as favors on site.

What should a roofing estimate template always include?
