Photograph, locate and date every finding on the spot
A defect with a photograph, a location and a date is actionable months later. The same defect described from memory in the office that evening is an argument. This is the whole practical difference software makes, and it is the reason inspections done on a phone beat inspections done on a pad.

Construction site inspection software: common questions
What is the difference between a safety inspection and a quality inspection? The subject and who is at risk. A safety inspection looks at hazards, access, plant and the people on site; a quality inspection looks at workmanship against the specification. They often happen on the same walk and should be recorded separately, because they are read by different people for different reasons.
How often should a small site be inspected? Frequently enough that nothing goes unseen for long, which on an active site usually means at least weekly for quality and more often for safety, plus a check after any change of work or weather. What matters more than the interval is that each inspection is recorded and each finding closed.
Does this replace statutory inspections? No. Statutory inspections of scaffolding, excavations, lifting equipment and similar are carried out by competent people on set intervals with their own records. Your own inspection regime sits alongside them and should reference them rather than pretend to cover them.
