Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs entered, by the method stated below it. Jobcardo publishes no tax rate, no wage figure and no trade standard: the rate, the markup and the tax on the parts line are yours, and the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own figures.
An estimate from a takeoff is quantities first and prices second: the feet of fence, the squares of roof, the square feet of floor with the waste allowed, each taken off the drawing or the walk-through before a single rate is applied. Jobcardo keeps the takeoff as the first half of the estimate, applies your own rates and your material costs to the quantities, and carries the estimate onto the job it wins, so the work order, the change order and the invoice are priced from the same quantities the customer signed.

Take off the quantities before the prices
A line is a quantity and a unit: linear feet of run, square feet of surface, each with its waste percentage. The free calculators do the takeoff arithmetic for a fence, a floor and a pressure-washing job with no account; the paid record keeps every takeoff against the customer and the job.
Apply your rates, not a national average
Labour per unit at your crew rate, material per unit at your cost with your markup, and the deposit you ask for are the book; the estimate is the takeoff multiplied through. A change to a rate reprices every open estimate that uses it, and the record says which ones.
The estimate becomes the job
An accepted estimate is the work order, with the quantities on it. A change on site is a change order against the same lines, priced from the same book, so the final invoice reconciles to the estimate line by line rather than to a memory of the walk-through.
Pressure washing estimate calculator: common questions
Is this a full construction estimating suite? No. It is the estimate a small contractor builds by hand today, from a takeoff and a rate book, kept as a record and carried onto the job. It does not read plans or price from a national cost database.
Which trades does the takeoff cover? Anything priced by the foot or the square: fencing, flooring, pressure washing and the general contractor's line-item estimate are the worked examples, and any line can be a quantity times a rate.
Is estimating priced separately? No. The estimate from a takeoff is part of every trade's plan on the pricing page; a trade pays its own price and the estimate comes with it.
